Our customers are the heart of everything we do. We want to hear from you, whether you think we do something well, you have a suggestion for how we can improve, or if we fall short and disappoint you.
In response to student feedback, we have made the following changes to our services in the past year.
You asked us to run more library sessions (inductions/lunchtime learning) earlier in course.
Lunch and Learn sessions now run every month of the year, and we run an average of 25 teaching sessions in total a month.
You wanted us to promote our academic skills training better.
We have developed a library events calendar to promote webinars and in-person workshops and also publicise them via our blog posts and Study Skills Hub announcements on Canvas.
You requested expanded and updated print collections in specific subject areas.
We have promoted the ability to suggest new book titles for purchase.
You wanted access to more online content in reading lists, and earlier access to reading lists.
We continue to increase the amount of reading list content that is available online.
You asked us to fix computer errors in the PC Hub in Kings Norton Library.
We have implemented more regular checks of all PCs
You asked for more healthy snacks in the vending machines at Kings Norton Library.
We have trialled a range of healthy eating options.
You felt Kings Norton Library was too noisy and we should control it better.
We have implemented new signage on all floors and on our floor maps to signify our zoned silent, quiet and collaborative working areas. These have proved very popular. As before, you can also contact Library staff (or Security staff out of hours) to raise concerns about noise.
You wanted us to add more study spaces in Kings Norton Library and our School of Management Library.
Plans for new study spaces across the site are underway.
You asked us to fix the broken furniture at our School of Management Library.
All the chairs have been fixed.
You wanted us to increase the opening hours at Barrington Library.
We undertook a survey to investigate the feasibility of increasing or changing Barrington Library opening hours to meet demand but there was no significant appetite amongst staff or students to make any changes. We will be keeping this under review.
You asked us for adaptors and cables to be available in Kings Norton Library.
A selection of cables are now available to purchase from our vending machines, whenever you need them. Prices start at £3.
