Use our app to:
You are only able to borrow items using the app if you have an NFC-enabled phone and allow the app to use location services.
The app covers all items in our print collection and a selection of our eBooks. It excludes all our databases, a number of eBook collections, and any journal content including any content from the Articles+ tab in Library Search. It also excludes LinkedInLearning videos, items in the Master's Theses Archive and papers in CERES.
If you are in the Library, please check the shelf first before you reserve a print item for collection. It will be quicker for you to pick it off the shelf yourself.
If you are not in the Library and the item is on the shelf but you would like to pick it up later in the day or the following day, please click the button to reserve it. We will email you when it is ready to collect from us.
If the item is on loan to another customer, please click the reserve button and again we will email you when it is ready to collect.
If you have an iPhone with an Apple ID Country/Region set outside the United Kingdom you may not see the Library Mobile app in the Apple Store. Please do not change your setting as this will affect all your apps and subscriptions. You can still access your account and all our resources and services via our website instead. If you are in one of our buildings, you can borrow books via the self-service machine.
We don’t have a definitive answer to this question, but we have found it helps to take the phone out of its case. The tag will be inside the back cover so keep moving your phone around in that area and it should eventually comply!
Some Apple users have reported an error message when they are trying to log in: “Safari cannot open the page because the address is invalid”. This is under investigation but a common fix is to log into Library Search first on the same device. If this doesn't work you could also try clearing the app cache or “offload” the app to get it to reinstall. Do this in Settings > General > iPhone storage. Locate the app called “Libraries”, select it, and then choose “Offload App”.
We have been advised that the error will recur if you log out of the app, so it is recommended to stay logged in. It also helps if other apps are not running while you establish your login.
Please report them to us by emailing us – library@cranfield.ac.uk – and we will do our best to help. We will add common questions to this list.
