Academic English support

Introduction

Academic English language support is for those students who would like to improve their written and spoken academic English. The overall aim is to develop the language skills required for postgraduate study in the UK.

Why is it important?

It can help boost your confidence and improve your ability to communicate verbally and in written form.

What do I need to know?

Support is free and available to all taught and research students. We have a variety of support options:

Academic English tutorials: One to one consultation with an experienced English language tutor, perhaps to discuss a module assignment, analyse a sample of writing, or practice a presentation. These are available weekly in 45-minute slots with a limit or 3 per calendar month. Make an appointment - select LOCATION (online, SOM Library or Kings Norton Library) > select Academic English Language Tutor.

English language workshops: Small interactive group sessions held online and on-campus at Cranfield for you to develop and practice skills interactively. Search 'EnglishSupport' in DATES for the current schedule and to reserve a place.

Library Helpdesk: The drop-in academic English support helpdesk is provided in Kings Norton Library, Fridays 14.00-17.00 and SOM Library, Mondays and Thursdays 12.30-13.30.
