Getting to know your Library: Our collection

You’ll be spending a lot of time using our resources!

You can find our books on Floor 1, and our reports, journals and past theses on Floor 2. There are stickers on the spines of our books that show their loan period. Journals are for reference use only within the library and cannot be borrowed.

As you can see we have a large print stock, but we have an even larger collection online. 65% of our books are eBooks so you can access them from anywhere at any time, and we also have over 100 specialist databases and over 35,000 eJournals. You can search our online and print collections via Library Search on our website and you can find the databases via our A-Z list or your subject guide.

If you are a taught student you can also check the reading list for your course.

We know everyone likes to study differently and at different times. The majority of our resources are online so you can access them from anywhere at any time. If you are a part time student or live away from Cranfield, we can post books to you and also scan chapters or journal articles to email directly to you from our collection.

If you need something that we don’t have online or in print, then we can try to get it from another library on your behalf via our interlibrary loan service. This is particularly important for research students but all students are able to use this service (limits apply).

As you visit each information point in order, you will unlock a password. This one unlocks the letter M. Once you have completed the tour, go to the Welcome Desk and give the password to a member of staff for a sweet treat!

The final stop on the tour is also on Floor 2, by the lift - The Nook.
