Changes to our services as a result of the coronavirus outbreak

We aim to update this page regularly as the online services we are able to offer may change over time. Please check it regularly to ensure you have the most accurate, up to date information.

Our libraries are now closed but we are still available to support you and provide the advice you need. We are operating an online enquiry service on weekdays, 9am-5pm.

If you have a general question, you are welcome to contact us by email.

If you need more in-depth advice, please email your Information Specialist and they will arrange a Skype call with you.

Online access

As usual, you are still able to access the majority of our resources online 24/7 through our websites. If you have trouble logging in or finding what you need, please contact us via email for help.

Some publishers have also extended online access during this time:

School of Management staff and students - we are still investigating remote access to Bloomberg and Eikon and will update this page when we have more information.

Borrowing and returning printed stock

We are sorry that you are unable to borrow any items of stock from any of our libraries, and recommend you try to find an online alternative through our eBooks. We are not able to post any items of stock to you.

Existing loan periods will automatically be extended to the end of May (this includes Barrington Reports loans, please ignore any overdue messages). It is no longer possible to reserve items on loan to other users, so you should not receive any recall messages.

If you are leaving the Cranfield campus, you can return any items you have on loan from either the Kings Norton Library or MIRC by putting them on a table that has been set up in the Lanchester Hall reception area (away from the reception desk). Please do not approach reception but just leave their books on the table, which will have a sign on it. Alternatively, you can just keep the items and return them to us by post when the libraries reopen.

If you have items on loan and are not currently on the Cranfield site, please return items to us using the postal service once the libraries reopen. We will contact you when we reopen.

Interlibrary loans

For the time being we are still able to process interlibrary loan requests. We will do our best to supply all items online, but please be aware that all libraries have reduced their services in line with government instruction, including the British Library.

We are not able to provide books or printed items, as we are not able to process them and forward them to customers. The libraries that usually supply our printed items are closed as well.

Lab notebooks

We are unable to provide new lab notebooks from either the Kings Norton Library or Barrington Library.
