Accessibility statement for Cranfield Libraries Room Bookings

This statement applies to the Cranfield Libraries Room Bookings website.  This includes the Opening Hours, Click and Collect and Book a Study Space services.

This website is run by Cranfield University Library Service. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • Book a Study Space and Click and Collect use layout tables which can cause issues for screen reader users.
  • Our warning status messages have insufficient colour contrast.
  • Our floor plans for Book a Study Space cannot be accessed by screen reader.
  • We have a number of redundant links which can cause repetition for keyboard and screen reader users.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

  • Book a Study Space uses layout tables which fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.3.1 (info and relationships).  An alternate page for screen reader users is provided in such cases.
  • Our warning status messages have insufficient colour contrast which fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 1.4.3 contrast (minimum) (level AA).  This is a system-built setting that we cannot change ourselves.  We have informed the software supplier who aim to fix this in due course.
  • We have a number of redundant links which fails WCAG 2.1 success criterion 2.4.4 (link purpose in context).  We plan to make appropriate changes to remove these by July 2024.

Disproportionate burden

This section is not applicable.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

Our maps cannot be accessed by screen reader, but these are exempt from the accessibility regulations.  We have provided a description of locations as an alternative.
