Teaching and online learning

Getting started using our services

All new students will have a timetabled session with their Information Specialist. We recommend you attend so that we can introduce you to our services and resources, and you can get the best start to your studies.

You can get a quick overview of all the services we offer from our Introduction to Library Services.

Courses and webinars

If you are an MSc student, most of our teaching will be timetabled as part of your course or advertised via Canvas.

We also run a monthly webinar series to support researchers, covering topics from Open Access and research data management, to making the most of Mendeley and Scopus. Forthcoming sessions are listed on the University’s DATES system. Filter the ‘Course type’ on the right hand side to ‘Library’ only.

Learn more about referencing

Our online Referencing tutorials explain the role and importance of citing bibliographic references, and how you incorporate the work of other authors into your literature review correctly, and without plagiarising.

Select correct VLE for your course, then pick the referencing style that your course/supervisor supports (Author-Date or Numbered):

Interactive and video guides

Use our information literacy tutorial and videos for hints and tips on how to get the most out of searching our Library databases.
