Coronavirus

Our libraries are closed but we are still providing online support and services for Cranfield staff and students. We have had to make some changes to our service, so please check this page regularly for the most up-to-date information.


Help and support

Library staff are available online to help you every weekday, 9am-5pm.

You can also find our advice on referencing, research activities, and support for off-site students by using the Help and Support area. You can find a link to it in the blue bar at the top of the screen.


Online resources

As usual, you can still access the majority of our resources online 24/7 through our websites. Some publishers are also providing free or extended access to their resources during COVID-19.

School of Management staff and students - we are still investigating remote access to Bloomberg and Eikon and will update this page when we have more information. 


Books and print materials

While you cannot borrow, reserve, or request postal delivery of books and print items, we recommend searching our collections for an eBook or other online alternative.

All existing loans have been extended to 4 September. No fines will accumulate. (This includes Barrington Reports loans – please ignore any overdue notices).

If you would like to return books to us:

  • By post: please contact library@cranfield.ac.uk and we will arrange a postal return from a UK address (at no cost to yourself). We are investigating options for students currently overseas.
  • Cranfield site drop-off: If you are leaving the Cranfield campus, please leave your books on the desk set up in Lanchester Hall reception area. In both cases, books will be stored safely and removed from your account when the Library re-opens.
  • Shrivenham site drop-off: please leave your books in the large box labelled “Cranfield University Library returns” in Main Reception on Shrivenham site. This will be emptied on a weekly basis so there may be a short delay before items are removed from your account.


Interlibrary loans and other requests

If you need an item that isn’t part of our online collection we are still providing an interlibrary loans service, but can only supply online material. We are not able to provide books or printed items, as the libraries that supply them to us are closed as well.

Please be aware that, due to staff shortages, interlibrary loan requests will not be processed 7-16 August (inclusive). Requests made during this time will be queued and a full service will resume on 17 August. Sorry for any inconvenience.
