Appointment of new University Librarian

Tim Wales


We are pleased to announce that Tim Wales has been appointed our University Librarian and joined us on 9 May. He replaces Simon Bevan who is retiring after nearly 34 years at Cranfield.

Tim is currently Head of Library Services at Brunel University, London. In the previous decade, he has held research and academic library leadership positions at Rothamsted Research, the University of West London and London Business School. He “earned his stripes” as a manager at Royal Holloway, University of London, a subject librarian at the Open University (Milton Keynes), and a researcher at a boutique investment bank. His first job after graduating from the University of East Anglia was as a trade journalist in the furniture industry before he completed his MSc in information science at City, University London.

Tim has written on a diverse range of professional topics, including library strategy, business librarianship, library technologies, information literacy, and veterinarian information-seeking behaviour.

He is a chartered member of CILIP, a fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and an editorial board member of the New Review of Academic Librarianship.
